Symptoms Can Influence Daily Life

Muscle damage caused by myasthenia gravis (MG) may lead to a variety of symptoms. In fact, these symptoms may get worse over time.

People with MG are also at risk of something called myasthenic crisis—a potentially life-threatening medical emergency. Myasthenic crisis occurs when your muscles are too weak to keep you breathing normally. About 15% to 20% of people with MG may experience myasthenic crisis once or more in their lives.

Talk to Your Doctor About Your Symptoms

MG symptoms can worsen in the first few years after symptoms first start, so it's important to work with your doctor early in your diagnosis to create a treatment plan that works for you. Keep track of your symptoms and inform your doctor if you notice any changes.

Symptoms may vary, but certain muscle groups are commonly affected.
